Our face shields/visors conform to ANSI Z87.1-2003 American National Standard and Educational Eye and Face Protection. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration requires that eye and face protection devices used must comply with this standard (29 CFR 1910.133 (b)).

Face shields/visors ARE NOT shatterproof. Large objects and/or objects traveling at high speed which strike face shields may break or penetrate the visor and cause injury to the wearer’s face or eyes. DO NOT use any face shields unless you also wear suitable primary eye protection devices (spectacles or goggles). Avoid areas where the danger of high speed flying particles exists. Be certain that any equipment that creates a potential hazard from flying particles, chemical splash, or molten metal is equipped with appropriate machine guards and safety devices. Inspect the product frequently and replace worn or damaged parts immediately.

Our tinted visors (medium and dark green) are not equivalent to any shade number and must not be used for welding. Tinted lenses are typically used for antiglare. Due to the reduced luminous transmittance of tinted visors, wearers could be exposed to increased levels of UV and IR radiation due to dilation of the pupil. Visors and lenses meeting the requirements of the ANSI standard for green tinted faces shield/visors may not provide UV or IR protection and wearers could be exposed to potentially harmful levels of radiation.

Face shields are not intended to provide protection in environments that expose the user to open flames or high energy arcs. Caution should be exercised in the use of metal frame protective devices in electrical hazard areas.

PETG is a glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate, which is a copolyester that is a clear amorphous thermoplastic. A PETG sheet has high stiffness, hardness, and toughness as well as good impact strength. This material is an economical choice that offers light to medium impact protection against sawdust, wood chips, grinding particles, or machining debris. Polyester is not appropriate for jobs in which workers are exposed to chemicals.

Polycarbonate is a particular group of thermoplastic polymers containing carbonate groups. This material is suited for high heat applications where there is little or no exposure to chemicals and is the best choice for higher energy impact hazards. Polycarbonate visors also provide 100% UV protection at wavelengths below 385 monometers.
